Who we are
What does a company like this actually do?
Guelcos is not a freight forwarder, not a customs broker and not a trading company, though the work touches all three. We are the party a Brazilian company hires when it wants to import and has no import department, and increasingly the party a foreign supplier is introduced to when their Brazilian deal will not move.
The reason both sides end up here is the same. Importing into Brazil is a regulated process with about a dozen counterparties and a tax structure that changes by state and by the buyer's regime. Someone has to hold the whole thing together, and be accountable when the container is held. That is the job.

Are you a trading company?
No. We never take ownership of the goods. The commercial relationship stays between the supplier and the Brazilian buyer, and we are contracted separately to run the import process on a fee agreed in advance.
Who owns Guelcos?
Guelcos Assessoria Empresarial Ltda is a Brazilian company founded in 2006, held by its three working partners. There is no outside investor whose interests sit between us and the client.
Do you have people in China, or partners in China?
Our own people. The Yiwu and Hong Kong offices are staffed by Guelcos employees, which is what makes a factory visit something we schedule rather than something we subcontract.
